Customer Comments & Feedback

I recently built a home and bought a brand new (and my very first!) Stainless steel, side-by-side fridge (GE). About one week after receiving it, I opened the door and it accidentally hit a nearby wooden bar stool and it made an awful lengthwise zig-zag scratch (think Charlie's Brown's shirt!).

Needless to say, I was absolutely devastated and searched for hours on the internet for a solution. Thank goodness, I found this site and heard about Scratch-B-Gone. I was skeptical, since I read some reviews here that said it just made the scratches worse, but I knew I couldn't live with the scratch so I decided to try my luck and bought the .75 ounce bottle. When I received it, I used the finest grit pad that came with the kit (the grey, unwoven one) and applied the solution. I worked the pad VERY gently up and down with the grain and to my absolute shock, the scratch was becoming lighter by the second! Within about 5 minutes of careful working, I had completely buffed out the scratch.

When I stepped back, however, I could still see a very slight "dullness" across the area where I had buffed (it was really no big deal, but I'm a perfectionist and wanted it to look EXACTLY as it did the day I got it a week before). I just applied a bit more solution to the pad and worked up and down about 6 inches above and below the scratch to camouflage it and within a few stroks, it worked like a charm! There is absolutely NO evidence that a scratch was ever present or that any buffing had been done. It looks like it did the day I got it. Granted, it was definitely not a deep scratch, but I am very pleased with the product and recommend it to anyone with a similar problem.

Usually this complaint comes from someone using Scratch-B-Gone on an appliance that either has a clear coat or a synthetic skin that simulates Stainless steel. Using Scratch-B-Gone in these cases will just scratch the coating or synthetic skin, usually creating a white ring around the area being remediated. Scratch-B-Gone is only to be used on un-coated, genuine brushed Stainless steel. See our 3-Step Guide for Genuine Stainless steel for guidance on how to tests to determine if you have a clear coat.

I have a whirlepool stainless steal dishwasher. I cleaned out a Lysol toillet bowl container in the sink, because I recycle, and as I was rinsing out the container some of the product must of splashed on the front of the dishwasher stainless steal. I went on line and googled what it would take to clean stainless steal from household chemical and stumbled across your web side.

I called the 1-800 number and left a message and someone actually called me back. He was very helpful and I ordered the product. When I received it I was a little nervous thinking that maybe the product wouldn't work for me, so I called customer service again. It was such a delight to actually talk with someone who was helpful and really cared about the customer. He gave me directions on what to do and even requested to be called back on the results.

You certainly do not get that kind of services anymore. The product worked out wonderful and took away my stain. I am so grateful and love the product it is a miracle worker in my book. Keep up the good work. It was so wonderful have a company that has a true customer service and who really cares. Thank You!

After being told by many retailers that there was no hope for the scratches on my 48" Kitchen Aid refrigerator, I thought I was destined to live with these scratches forever (or at least until the refrigerator broke). I came across Scratch-B-Gone on an internet search, and thought I'd give it a try. It was every bit as easy to use as advertised. I even got a little personal fine tuning suggestions from Barry & Doug with phone support. I'm amazed at the fantastic results. Keep spreading the word with your wonderful product!

I own Fisser Services in Gilroy Ca. We repair Viking, Miele, Fisher & Paykel, Sub Zero Wolf, Thermador, Appliances and pro-series BBQ allot of S/S panels. I started to use Scratch-b-gone in 2006 when a customer wanted to replace the doors which had gouges and numerous scratches on her Sub-Zero and was shocked at the replacement cost. I gave my customer the option of repair using Scratch-B-Gone and I was amazed at the results, the doors looked like new.

I have used this product on cook tops, dishwasher and BBQ hoods with complements from my customers in astonishment of how new the appliance looks. I will use Scratch-B-Gone and sell this product with confidence that my customers will be satisfied with there results.

This kit is amazing! A housekeeper scrubbed my stainless steel refrigerator with something abrasive and scratched up the door. This kit took 10 minutes to completely restore it. It is very easy to do and works quickly. You do have to use some elbow grease, but it's worth it. It looks like the scratches never happened! Thank you for a wonderful & much needed product.

I recently purchased a Stainless steel refrigerator and dishwasher from my daughter. They were in a rental property for 4 years. They were covered with multiple scratches. I called several local appliance stores and I called several local appliance stores and no one could help me. Just by chance I called a parts house and found your kit.

It worked great! It truly is a First Aid kit for Stainless steel. They look like new. It is a great product and I'll be happy to recommend your kit to anyone.

I just want to say a big THANK YOU! for restoring my rusted and scratched outdoor Stainless steel kitchen. It looks like new! Our house is located at the ocean and the air and constant moisture causes it to rust. I never thought it could be cleaned and restored. I was also told that our particular units could not be replaced as the manufacturer had gone out of business. Your company was able to do it. Everywhere else I called said it could not be done. I highly recommend your company and products for customers near the coast.

I went out and bought the Scratch B Gone kit, and made the repairs to our kitchen sink last night. Thank you very much for your advice, as your product is amazing -- our Franke sink looks wonderful! The product did the trick and was a lifesaver for us. Thanks for taking the time to research our sink and write me several times to help me ensure that your product would work for our brand/type of sink. If any family or friends get scratches on their stainless steel appliances (not that I wish it on them), I will be sure to recommend your product.

We just tried this scratch-b-gone after watching the video and we just can't believe it !!!!! It really works !!! We did the hood over the stove as well as the front ledge on the stove. After all of these months of looking at the scratches the builder put on them and now it looks the way it should have looked in the beginning…. brand new. We were a little scared at first until we watched the video then it looked pretty easy. Thank you so much for having such a Great product. I'm telling every one I know.

I thought I would write to tell you what a fine product this is. We have tried many stainless steel polishes and your product has proven to be the best yet. We are an appliance service center in Cleveland Ohio and we service Sub-zero, Whirlpool, Maytag, Viking, Bosch, Asko, Kitchen-Aid, and many other manufacturers.

In today’s appliance business stainless steel is very popular but requires maintenance. We had a brand new wok for a Bosch range yesterday right out of the box with rust and pits in the outside bottom of it. After a few minutes of polishing with the Scratch-B- Gone kit the rust and the pits were gone. We did this at the counter right in front of the customer and he was amazed. We have used it several other times equally successfully. Kudos and keep the good products coming!

When we tried to find a product to remove the scratches from our Thermador Professional range we were quite skeptical regarding the information we found on the web. I e-mailed Restore It Yourself, expecting to get a "stock answer" that "we can't promise anything, but buy our product anyway". Instead I was pleasantly surprised to hear directly from the company President, Barry Feinman, who advised me that the kit had actually been tested on Thermador ranges…and it worked. I spent about 1 hour and removed virtually all of the scratches that had accumulated from 4 years of use. It looks great. Thanks.

I just wanted to let you know that I am a very satisfied customer.

We remodeled out kitchen two years ago and while the installers were putting in our new Decor oven, they managed to scratch it severely, I was very upset and gave them a choice to either repair the stove to it's original condition or replace it. They sent a crew out and were able to remove all the scratches. When I asked how they were able to get them all out, the service tech. gave me the name of restore solutions as the product they used.

I quickly bought the product and have been very happy with the results have I have had over the past two years. I also had a friend who had just installed a new stainless steel sink in her kitchen, she came over and was really upset because the sink had been scratched after just one use, I gave her the name of restore solutions and told her where to buy it, about a week went by and she knocked on my door with dinner in hand as a thank you for telling her about restore solutions.

The sink that she thought was ruined, was as good as new! I am no longer worried about letting friends or family work with me in the kitchen concerned that they might accidentally scratch my stainless steel products, I now have the peace of mind that even if that should happen, restore solutions can repair the damage.

Sincerely,

My husband and I had recently purchased a Kitchen Aid stainless steel refrigerator. Unfortunately, the first day we put a small scratch in it because we positioned it wrong and the door hit the handle of our double oven. My husband tried to polish it with stainless steel polish and it just made it worse. The blemish became a dark gray.

Then about a month later, a large scratch (at least 3" across the grain) appeared above the ice / water dispenser.Again, my husband tried to polish the scratch out and it became a huge dark gray blemish which could be seen to all. I was so frustrated because the refrigerator was new and it was already looking horrible. I tried using the Bar Keepers Friend on the spots and it helped remove some of the dark gray but you could still see some of it.

So after a lot of research on this website and some coaxing of my husband, we decided to try the Scratch B Gone; I figured it probably couldn't get any worse than it already was. My husband followed the directions very carefully and immediately we noticed a huge difference. The scratch in the door from the oven handle is completely gone. The scratch above the ice/water dispenser is almost completely gone; hardly noticeable except for when you stand in one spot (probably need to work on it a bit more) but the dark spots are completely gone. We LOVE this product and can't say enough about it. We also ended up using it on our DCS Stovetop which had a nasty deep scratch by the control knobs that no longer exists. We plan to buy a back up kit so we have it just in case.

I have to admit, I started questioning buying stainless steel for our new kitchen but after finding this product, I'll never have to worry again. I would highly recommend this product for anyone who has stainless products and wants to remove any scratches; it's a lot cheaper and more environmentally friendly than buying new appliances.

I don't know if you will remember me or not. I think you will since I had such an odd situation.

We spoke back on September 10th about how I got some very weird colors on my stove top after using your "Scratch-B-gone" repair kit. I sent you pictures and you determined to the best of your ability that my appliances were not stainless steel and suggested I write to executives at whirlpool. Well that is what I did. That same day I wrote quite an extensive e-mail to an executive address and much to my surprise 6 weeks later received a phone call! Long story short.they are going to replace the part for free! And you were right they are not stainless steel but nickel.

Your time, professional opinion and advice saved me $200 to replace the part. I greatly appreciate what you did for me. At this point I am waiting for the part to be delivered and service to be scheduled so keep your fingers crossed for me. I wanted you to know the out come and to let you know that if you hear of this problem in the future it seems to be standard that they use nickel and just call it stainless.

Many thanks,

I have to say, I don't know if I believed it - but it really worked, and I am amazed.

Thanks for inventing this!

In April I polished my refrigerator with a soft cloth and didn't realize that it had a rough side and scratched the door quite a bit. It isn't even two years old!

On July 24, the North County Times had a great write up on Barry Feinman for inventing Scratch-B-Gone and said it would be in Home Depot sometime in August.

I called and visited many Home Depots but they didn't have it. I called your store and they said it was in the Encinitas store so I rushed out and bought the package.

My husband and I worked on teh refrigerator about 1/2 hour and all the scratches were gone. We have a stainless steel sink, dishwasher, microwave, a filter and large grill and will be keeping them beautiful from now on.

Thanks so much,

Sincerely,

Helen and Ray N.

I purchased a kit a few weeks ago. I am very impressed. We have a new kitchen with a fabricated stainless steel sind and counter. Unfortunately it got scratched during the construction of the kitchen with hairline scratches. I used the kit today and the counter now looks like it just came from the factory.
